Condition/Description: Offered here is a vintage Persian Isfahan rug, that was hand knotted in Iran of 100 percent natural wool on a cotton foundation. This rug is 60+ years old, has full wool piles and is in excellent condition. The dramatic ruby-red field provides a striking backdrop for an intricately detailed central medallion rendered in ivory, deep navy, sapphire blue, and complementary jewel tones. Its symmetrical floral composition creates a sense of architectural balance and refinement, drawing the eye toward the heart of the carpet while allowing the surrounding decorative elements to unfold with remarkable richness. Particularly captivating are the elaborate ivory corner spandrels, embellished with vivid blue floral ornamentation and scrolling arabesques. These sophisticated corner elements beautifully frame the central field and provide a striking transition into the carpet's exceptionally ornate border system. A broad midnight-blue principal border, densely populated with classical Persian floral motifs, surrounds the composition. This rug was acquired from a central Virginia estate. Cleaned and ready to be enjoyed. FLAT RATE SHIPPING OF $300.00 FOR THIS RUG WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Flat rate shipping is billed separately after the invoice has been paid.

Isfahan Rugs are known for their high quality. The Iranian city of Isfahan has been one of the centers for production of famous Persian rugs. As Isfahan was becoming Isfahan a center of high-quality rugs, most Isfahan rugs used traditional motifs inspired by the architectural motifs and tiles. Designers were also inspired by the poets of Persia (Rumi, Hafez, Attar), nature, and religious/spiritual intimations that are ingrained in the culture. In 20th century rugs, the colors have become more pastel, utilizing the artistic flair of this "City of Art". Both Classical and contemporary Isfahan rugs are extremely attractive, with a range of traditional designs that are still used, including Shah Abbas, Vase, Tree of Life and Pictorial schemes. But the most popular design is a circular central medallion (Derived from the famous mosque of Shah Lutf Allah in Isfahan) set against an elegantly sculpted field, decorated with intricately purling vine palmette and floral motifs.
