Condition/Description: Offered here is a vintage Kerman rug, made of 100 percent natural wool on a cotton foundation with full wool piles. This rug is 70+ years old and is in excellent condition for its age. This elegant Persian rug presents a beautifully balanced central medallion surrounded by an abundant garden of finely articulated blossoms, palmettes, scrolling vines and foliate forms, all enclosed within a sophisticated many faceted floral frameworks. The palette is particularly desirable from an interior-design standpoint. It combines warm ivory, dusty rose, muted pink, sage and celadon green, soft blue, navy, camel, gold, peach and burgundy. Rather than the saturated reds and dark grounds associated with many Persian carpets, this Kerman offers a softer, remarkably versatile coloration ideally suited to today's collected traditional, English country, French-inspired, Parisian, transitional and soft-luxury interiors. This rug was acquired from a central Virginia estate. Clean and ready to be enjoyed. FLAT RATE SHIPPING OF $300.00 FOR THIS RUG WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Flat rate shipping is billed separately after the invoice has been paid.
Kerman rugs are one of the most recognizable within the Persian rug category. Kerman is an ancient city, with an incredible history going back over a 1000+ years. Marco Polo was one of the first westerners to view Kerman rugs. A typical pattern for Kerman rugs is a floral in the main border with a central medallion in the field. Kerman rugs are distinctive, desirable - and, if in good condition, valuable. Many of the Kerman rugs produced have at least one feature in common - the Damask rose, whose flower is not only used as a figurative motif incorporated into the rug design.
