Condition/Description: Offered here is an antique, mansion sized Persian Farahan rug that was hand knotted in Persia (Iran) of 100 percent natural wool on a cotton foundation. This rug is at least 120+ years old, has medium to low wool piles and is in good condition for its age. The composition is organized around an elongated, intricately layered medallion rendered in faded brick red, muted blue-green, warm brown, and parchment ivory. Dense flowering vines, palmettes, rosettes, and scrolling arabesques animate the field, framed by an expansive floral border with multiple finely patterned guard bands. Its beautifully aged colors have mellowed into a compelling spectrum of terracotta, coral, tobacco, camel, celadon, muted teal, and warm neutral tones. Its naturally distressed surface and centuries-inspired patina would work beautifully in both quiet-luxury residences, and contemporary interiors requiring an important textile with genuine history and soul. This rig is offered in heavily distressed antique condition, with extensive overall pile wear, areas worn to the foundation, holes, open tears and separations, weakened sections, losses and deterioration along portions of the ends and edges, and evidence of previous repairs or stabilization. The rug features large areas with abrash (Uneven fading) due to the use of antiquated vegetable dyes. This rug was acquired from an established rug merchant through an online auction. Clean and ready to be enjoyed. THIS RUG LIFE OFFERS FLAT RATE SHIPPING OF $300.00 FOR THIS RUG WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Flat rate shipping is billed separately after the invoice has been paid.

Farahan rugs are distinguished Persian carpets woven in and around the Farahan district of western-central Iran, particularly during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Celebrated for their refined yet expressive drawing, they commonly feature elegant medallions or repeating allover patterns composed of flowering vines, palmettes, rosettes, arabesques, and Herati motifs. Farahan weavers favored finely spun wool and sophisticated colors such as deep indigo, madder red, soft ivory, green, camel, and warm brown, which often mellow beautifully with age. Combining formal Persian design with the individuality of village craftsmanship, antique Farahan rugs are prized by collectors and interior designers for their graceful proportions, artistic character, decorative versatility, and unmistakable time-earned patina.
