A Leroy Neiman (1921-2012) original, hand signed, limited edition etching titled Six Nudes that was impressed in 1980. It is hand signed in pencil “LeRoy Neiman ’80” in the lower right. This compelling work features six expressive studies of the female nude arranged in a dynamic studio composition. The sheet presents multiple etched plates printed together, combining reclining, seated, and standing figure studies. A tall vertical nude anchors the right side of the composition, while smaller reclining figures and a circular vignette balance the arrangement. The result resembles a studio study sheet, capturing Neiman’s rapid, gestural draftsmanship and fascination with the human form. Executed in Neiman’s confident, energetic line, the figures demonstrate the artist’s ability to convey movement and sensuality with minimal marks. Such figure studies formed an important part of Neiman’s printmaking output during the late 1970s and early 1980s. This example is hand signed in pencil by the artist and numbered 5 from the edition of 250, a desirable early number in the edition. A blind stamp reading “Madeleine-Claude Jobrack Editions” is in the lower margin (not visible unless outside the frame), identifying the publisher who issued the edition. The sheet size is 22 ¼ inches x 29 7/8 inches. With frame, this piece measures 28.5 inches x 37.5 inches. This piece is double matted and framed under acrylic in a silver toned frame. This piece was acquired from a Metro Washington DC estate and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
