Condition/Description: A Hand-knotted in the iconic Caucasian Kazak rug, this piece delivers exactly what high-end rustic and designer interiors demand right now—bold geometry, grounded color, and unmistakable presence. The saturated teal-blue field is the immediate draw. It has that rare balance: rich enough to anchor a space yet softened with subtle tonal variation that keeps it livable and refined. Set against it, the brick-red central medallion creates a powerful focal point—structured, architectural, and unmistakably tribal. This rug acquired directly from an established Asian antiques dealer. Clean and ready to be enjoyed. FLAT RATE SHIPPING OF $175.00 FOR THIS RUG WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Flat rate shipping is billed separately after the invoice has been paid.

The Caucasian region has been in the business of rug making for a very long time. There are plenty of factors that impacted Caucasian designs, as they were under the rule of several different cultures. Caucasian carpet designs are very distinct in both coloring and pattern. They are usually characterized by a strong and dominant color palette with small variations in color accents, as well as bold, geometric tribal patterns. The carpets coming from the Caucasus are of a simple nature, whereby the antique models have a higher quality than the modern ones. The reason for this is the material used. Whereas carpets in this region were once knotted from hand-spun wool treated with natural colors, today industrial spun wool is not uncommon. A decisive date in Caucasian rug production is the year 1925. The rugs produced before this date can be divided into five groups: Dagestan, Kazak, Karabakh, Cuban and Shirvan rugs. In their patterns and related formal language, they resemble Persian-produced rugs. There are also other, but less well-known variations of Caucasian rugs. Geometric-reci-linear forms are associated with playful elements. There are also reduced patterns from the animal world. While antique rugs from the Caucasus have a very good reputation, modern rugs are slowly regaining popularity. Especially the light blue tones of many Caucasian rugs are appreciated again.
