Chinese Art Deco revival style rugs are hand-knotted carpets inspired by early 20th-century Chinese designs that were originally created for Western interiors during the Art Deco period. Unlike traditional Persian rugs, they emphasize open fields, restrained composition, and deliberate use of negative space, often featuring a central medallion or scattered symbolic motifs such as vases, florals, or scholar objects. Their palettes are typically soft, atmospheric, and color-driven—ivory, teal, blush, gold—designed to harmonize with architecture rather than dominate it. Revival examples, produced later in the 20th century (often in Chinese workshops), maintain this aesthetic but focus more on decorative impact and interior design flexibility than collector-level knot density, making them especially valued today as calm, architectural foundation pieces in refined, designer-led spaces.
