Offered here is an impressive, large format Anatole Krasnyansky (Ukrainian American, 1930–2023) hand signed color serigraph titled Celebration II. Created in 2004, it presents one of the artist's most recognizable combinations of theatrical fantasy, music and Old World architecture. Executed on textured, wove paper and boldly signed A. Krasnyansky in ink at lower left. The composition is quintessential Krasnyansky: a brilliantly colored, masked musician appears suspended above an atmospheric European village of towers, domes, arches and bare trees. The fantastical figure is constructed from overlapping Cubist-inspired passages of cobalt blue, crimson, violet, yellow, silver, black and metallic gold, creating an extraordinary sense of movement and theatrical energy. Below, the restrained earth-toned architecture provides a sophisticated counterpoint to the intensely colored figure above. Krasnyansky's work is particularly recognized for bringing together the architectural imagery rooted in his European background with the surreal, masked performers of his later American work. The reverse retains important identifying documentation, including an inventory label dated April 9, 2005. It specifically identifies KRASNYANSKY, ANATOLE, Celebration II, SERIGRAPH, Lot 219, registration no. 141072.0040. This label, together with a separate inspection and quality-control label, add valuable documentation to this piece. It is matted and framed under acrylic in a bold, golden frame. With frame, it measures 38.5 inches x 50.5 inches. This piece was acquired from a Central Virgina estate.
