After Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881–1973), lithograph titled Le Visage de la Paix, or The Face of Peace. It is also referred to as the Woman and Dove. This striking lithographic print on textured paper, after one of Picasso’s celebrated postwar compositions, depicting the beautifully intertwined profiles of a serene woman and a dove. This piece is bearing the printed Picasso signature at lower right and presented in an elegant gilt frame with wide linen-textured matting and contrasting inner border. This exceptionally recognizable composition originates with Picasso’s celebrated Le Visage de la Paix, or The Face of Peace, imagery created in collaboration with French poet Paul Éluard. In December 1950, Picasso produced a sequence of drawings exploring the relationship between the female face and the dove of peace, ultimately merging the two forms through an extraordinary economy of line. The series was published in Le Visage de la Paix in 1951. This lithograph is double matted and framed under acrylic in an ornate, golden frame. With frame, it measures 18 inches x 22 inches.
